Kyai Tani: A Legacy of Farming and Education

Kyai Tani is a respected Islamic scholar and the owner of schools ranging from elementary to high school, with a total of 1,250 students — 450 of whom receive free education. The primary funding for these scholarships comes from the agricultural business he manages himself.

Together with his students, Kyai Tani cultivates 7 hectares of farmland (part of which is waqf land), growing various crops such as chili, lettuce, water spinach, paprika, and more. Each student is responsible for managing their own plot, enabling them to support themselves through the harvest. The produce is then bought back by Kyai Tani and marketed. Quality checks are carried out in multiple stages starting with an initial inspection by the students and followed by further checks by the company after purchase  ensuring consistently high-quality products.

The core principle applied is healthy cultivation with minimal chemical use. The natural fertilizer JAKABA (Jamur Keuntungan Abadi) wich means “Mushroom of Eternal Profit” , a mushroom-based fermentation product, is developed to naturally boost the size and quality of crops without synthetic pesticides. The result is healthier vegetables, larger than average, with a taste so exceptional that many top restaurants remain loyal to his produce.

This farming technique has become both an inspiration and a benchmark for PT Cahaya Hidup Persada in setting healthy farming standards with over 1,000 partner farmers across Indonesia. This partnership not only focuses on producing high-quality crops but also empowers the younger generation, turning the fruits of the earth into hope for the future.
